Overview
PEL100 lies towards the north east corner of South Australia on the northern margin of the Cooper Basin. It is situated just to the west of the Keleary and Telopea oil fields. Cooper Energy has participated in four exploration wells in PEL100:
- Acacia Grove-1 in April 2004
- Fairbridge-1 in January 2006
- Strickland Bay-1 in February 2006
- Cleansweep-1 in October 2007
Acacia Grove-1 and Strickland Bay-1 were plugged and abandoned as dry holes. Fairbridge1 had encouraging oil and gas shows in the Birkhead and Poolowanna formations. The well was plugged and abandoned after cased-hole production testing demonstrated the reservoirs were tight and non-productive. Updip potential exists in the Uribes prospect in which early migration may have preserved reservoir quality.
The permit was farmed out to Stuart Petroleum who assumed operatorship and paid for and drilled the Cleansweep-1 well, which resulted in a small oil discovery. Stuart Petroleum were subsequently taken over by Senex Energy, who assumed Operatorship.
An exploration 3D seismic survey is planned along the southern edge of PEL100, including the Uribes Prospect, to highgrade the structural and stratigraphic interpretation of prospects in this area.
